The city’s premier art festival is back and the arts are thriving in Downcity! For the second year in a row the Providence Art Festival, formerly the Thayer St. Art Festival, takes to Westminster St. On Saturday, June 12th, from 10:30AM to 6:00PM, Westminster St. in Downcity Providence will host over 80 juried local artists, crafters, musicians, food vendors, live entertainers, children’s craft activities and more!
The festival is rooted in the successes of the past Thayer St. Art Festival, but now has a modern, urban twist, calling Downcity Providence home. Last year was huge success and 2010 will be even bigger and better, with more applicants, more music, and more fun!
With far more artists than they have booth space, the applicants were juried to include wonderful local talent. The artwork accepted includes photography, painting, sculpture, jewelry, personal accessories, apparel, hand made gifts, children’s clothing, stationary, apothecary, jams and jellies, and more. This is a great opportunity to support our LOCAL ARTISTS while enjoying a day of fun outdoors!
Westminster St. will be closed to traffic, from Dorrance St. to Matthewson St,. and filled with artists selling their work, street performers, the Big Nazo, United BBQ, Ebisu Restaurant, El Rancho Grande, Like-No-Udder Ice Cream, The Yum Yum Truck, the Tazza Caffe beer garden, FREE children’s craft activities, and live local music all day. The live music performances will begin at 1pm and go until 6pm.
The festival is sponsored by WBRU, Providence Monthly, In Downcity, OOP!, and the Providence Foundation.
The Providence Art Festival is a family friendly event supporting urban renewal, local arts, music and food! Spend the day in Downcity Providence and enjoy our Creative Capital!
