Providence’s only outdoor movie screen continues through September! This week we’re screening GOLDFINGER. Every Thursday movies will be screened at dusk on the corner of Westminster St. and Union St. Pop hits, local shorts, even some music performances. As always, introducing the show are International shorts presented by the Rhode Island International Film Festival. Bring your friends and family down for a drink, some eats, and a free film. WHAT: The Rhode Island International Film Festival takes over the screen this evening with RIIFF’s “best of” shorts. As a part of the week long festival, these Academy Award winning films will play under the stars tonight, on the corner of Westminster St. and Union St.
Bring your friends and family, chairs and blankets, and grab some snacks.
Movies on the Block was just recognized by Rhode Island Monthly as the Best Place For A Date, so if you’re looking for a romantic setting, be sure to bring your honey with you to enjoy the show!

This week I ventured down Westminster St. in search of my must have item of the week and I found it difficult to make a decision. Everything I touched seemed more desirable than the last, but I landed at Oop! and found myself attached to a set of frosted glasses with vintage state maps printed on them. Seeing as its August, and I’m holding on to every last bit of summer that I possibly can, my attachment to these glasses seemed natural. They are truly reminiscent of camp cabins, summer lake trips, and long car rides to summer destinations. For this reason, I felt the need to buy one of each state and sip my way across the country. They make great gifts for friends and relatives in other states. For just $11 each, a set is not just colorful, but affordable as well! Where: Downtown at Gardner-Jackson Park (the Sergio Franchi Stage) and the Bank Of America Skating Center (the Mario Lanza Stage)
The Providence Italian Arts and Music Festival will be running non-stop live musical entertainment for five days! Come Downcity to hear great music, visit shops and vendors and eat delicious food. There is no admission charge for the event.
Vendors of food, beverage and souvenir goods will be set up along the river and in park spaces surrounding the stages. Since there is no charge to participate, access to the stages and vendors will be unlimited.
