RISD’s 2012 Graduate Thesis Exhibition – opens at the Rhode Island Convention Center from 6–8 tonight. The show consumes 28,000 sf of gallery space, so give yourself some time to get through it and really appreciate it. The grad show is free and open daily from 12-5 through June 2nd.

Astro Nautico – Obey City (LuckyMe), Kuhn (Civil Music) and Paul Jones (FatDudes) are visiting Providence, and more specifically The Salon this Friday. Astro Nautico began as a Brooklyn-based music blog/monthly party and has since evolved into a free net label. The founding members met in high school friends and bonded over their mutual love and dedication to music. Last month they dropped their massive 12th release, Atlantics Vol. 2, here’s a little teaser:

Tomorrow night the guys will be spinning experimental music for the dancefloor, including future R’n'B, dubstep, footwork, trap, cloud rap, jungle, techno, & house. With live video synthesis/VHS VJ mixing by Paul Jones to back the deejays.

When we stopped by Clover with Jasminka & Ana from local style blog Concrete Predator yesterday we were pleasantly surprised by:

The Providence Art Festival is back for it’s fifth year and it’s better than ever! Saturday June 2nd, spend the day with us, and enjoy delicious food, great music and shop over 100 vendors. The band The Silks will be there. Westminster st. will be filled with fun, music, and line dancing! This is definitely shaping up to be the event of the summer.

Craftland Gallery presents a solo show with select works by Chicago artist, Kathy Halper. The exhibition includes embroidered drawings from the “Friend Me” series based on Facebook photos of youth paired with found texts meant to explore the contemporary teen’s experience through today’s public technology.

The Chicago artist will be present for the opening reception,Thursday, May 17th from 5pm – 8pm. Show runs from May 17th – June 16th, 2012
